Letter from President
May 13th, 2013
CPAS has now been in existence for 10 years. We have enjoyed five stand-alone biannual conferences and five meetings attached to the Hospital for Sick Children Pediatric Anesthesia Conference and have participated in one joint meeting with the APAGBI. We now need to focus on the next decade.
Firstly, the CPAS Executive wishes to invite all pediatric anesthesiologists whether full or part-time, those at academic and community centres, to join and participate in CPAS. We are a body who can join together to exchange ideas and practices, to promote and carry-outresearch and to foster education of residents and fellows across Canada. We cannot do that effectively without broad-based participation from those of you who every day or every week care for babies and children. With your participation we can build on our strengths and foster collaboration in a range of educational and research activities.
You are invited to explorea new website and join us in other social media forums with which we hope to enhance communication within the society and to raise our profile in the broader anesthesia and medical community. Other aims include providing links to parent information sites and to relevant professional guidelines, to give access to relevant podcasts and highlight important recent publications. The site will also be a means of advertising Fellowship positions. Dates for 2013 and 2014 meetings are available on the CPAS website including the pediatric content at the Calgary CAS in June, the CPAS day at HSC PAC in November and a joint meeting with APAGBI in Montreal in September 2014.
We hope to see as many of you as possible at these meetings but before then please join, get involved and participate in moving our society forwards to the next stage of its' development as a flagship for pediatric anesthesia in Canada
