October 2021

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I write this note to you all, almost a year since I assumed the role of CPAS President. I want to welcome new and old friends to our new CPAS website and to provide an update of our activities since we last ‘spoke’.

In addition to a fresh aesthetic, we have made several improvements to the functionality of the website. We hope you like the ease with which you can find information regarding the next CPAS scientific events and pay your dues. There is some archived material of previous webinars, Telemedicine rounds, and newsletters promoting CPAS activities. Behind the scenes, the website is easier to update content, which I hope means this portal will be useful for you all in the future.

The website also introduces members to the physician volunteers who serve on the Board and explain their roles within CPAS. The hard-working Scientific (chaired by Dr. Susan Goobie) and Education committees (Chairs; Dr. Katherine Bailey and Dr. Ilavajady Srinivasan) introduce themselves, the members of their committee, and their mandates. Both committees have been busy, organising our next two Scientific meetings and developing a national curriculum for Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship programs, I encourage you to read more about their work in these sections.

You can find more information about CPAS activities in the following links:

As I write this, we are all still affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Many CPAS activities have shifted to a virtual platform. The next CPAS AGM and Scientific meeting will be hosted online on November 6. The Scientific Committee have assembled an excellent program for this event. You can find more details here.

Dr Simon Whyte and the CPAS Meeting Planning Committee have already begun preparing for the Vancouver meeting in September 2022. Please keep an eye out for further details. It will be so wonderful to see each other in person again. In the meantime, I hope to see you online on November 6.

Best wishes,

Katherine
