CPAS Sponsored Fellow
See this special message from our CPAS sponsored fellow Dr. Anastasia Ohene working in Ghana, a glowing example of some of the hard work that your membership fees has helped to accomplish. We greatly appreciate your continued support.

CPAS Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship Bursary
The Canadian Pediatric Anesthesia Society (CPAS) is proud to partner with the African Paediatric Fellowship Program (APFP) to fund a pediatric anesthesia fellowship in Cape Town, South Africa. This one-year fellowship is specifically designed for non-South African anesthesiologists from across Africa. Fellows receive advanced training in pediatric anesthesia at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital, gaining exposure to complex yet contextually relevant surgical and medical conditions. This comprehensive experience equips them to become skilled clinical leaders, educators, researchers, and advocates for safer pediatric perioperative care in their home countries.
We’ve seen incredible results from previous fellows below.
Henry Nchimunya – June 2021- May 2022
Anastasia Ohene – January – December 2023
Luke Mwiga – June 2024 – June 2025
Betty Nantongo – January – December 2025
Training in Cape Town comes at a significant cost, approximately CA$48,000 for a one-year fellowship—primarily covering living expenses. CPAS has pledged CA$7,500 per year, and we’re working with Canadian donors and the APFP to raise the remaining funds.
By contributing, we as a national body of pediatric anesthetists can play a direct role in increasing the number of pediatric anesthesia specialists in countries with limited healthcare resources.
